Park High School's Athletics Triumph: Harrow Borough Champions for Boys and Girls

The Athletics season opened in May with the Harrow Schools One-Day Athletics Championships, at Harrow School. This event afforded students the opportunity to qualify for the Harrow team and gain some valuable experience before the borough competitions. The borough competitions followed in June, held at Bannisters Sports Centre in Harrow.

Our confidence in our students strong performances on the day, was validated when the full breakdown of results confirmed that Park High School emerged as the overall Harrow borough champions for both boys and girls! This achievement was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, who participated enthusiastically in trials during lessons and trained diligently after school.

With over 60 students competing for Park High this year, our success was due to a combination of depth in talent and a healthy haul of medals. We consistently secured respectable placings across all events, gradually amassing points that contributed to our overall victory. The number of medalists was so significant that it’s challenging to single out individuals, but the numerous bronze, silver, and gold medals played a crucial role in our triumph.

Some standout moments included the girls' Year 9 and Year 10 4x100m relay teams clinching gold, and the boys' Year 8 4x100m relay team dominating their event. We also secured gold in the boys' shot put, boys' long jump, and girls' javelin. Our top performers were track athletes Sofia and Kei-Ahna. Sofia, a Year 10 student, dominated both the 800m and 300m events and went on to achieve a personal best (PB) and an impressive 3rd place finish in the 800m at the Middlesex Championships. Kei-Ahna, a Year 9 student, claimed gold in the borough 100m and represented Harrow at the Middlesex Championships.

With this victory, Park High School has now secured ten borough titles for the season. As we look ahead, we still have the Boys Cricket, Girls Rounders, Year 7 Netball, and U14 Girls Volleyball titles up for grabs. The future looks bright for our talented athletes!

Congratulations to all our students for their phenomenal performances and dedication! And to all the staff members that supported our students.
