Park High School Launches Exciting Partnership with WildHearts and Nestlé

Park High School is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with WildHearts and Nestlé as part of its Student Leadership Programme. On Thursday 10th October 2024, the school embarked on an exciting journey by hosting an Insight into Industry day, welcoming students from three other schools. This unique event offered our students the chance to engage with senior leaders from both Nestlé and WildHearts, alongside current students from Nestlé Academy, who shared their experiences from various degree-level apprenticeship courses. Together, they tackled real business challenges faced by Nestlé.

CEO of WildHearts, Richard Watson, was deeply impressed by the level of engagement and enthusiasm displayed by our students. The WildHearts Schools Partnership, which organises events to empower students from diverse backgrounds across the UK, was represented by its founder, Dr. Mick Jackson. He joined us for this inspirational day, reinforcing the goal of fostering leadership and innovative thinking amongst our students.

Mrs. N. Kerai, who led the event, said, "Our aim is to create a meaningful community impact, inspiring the next generation of innovative minds and empowering our students to reach their full potential. We want to inspire the leaders our world deserves by making it real for our students while on their learning journey here at Park High School."

During the event, students had the opportunity to participate in an in-depth Q&A session with Nestlé visitors, exploring career paths in fields such as engineering, finance, marketing, business, sustainability, packaging, and product design. They were inspired by personal stories shared by graduates from the Nestlé Graduate Programme and gained invaluable insights into careers in the food and beverage industry.

Student Reflections:

"The Nestlé and WildHearts event was a wonderful opportunity to develop new skills in areas like Business and Economics. As a Vocational Engineering student, I found it incredibly valuable to apply my knowledge and expand my experience across different fields. It was a privilege to meet the CEO and interact with staff, learning how their skills help them in their careers."Danut (11BG)

"Spending time with Nestlé helped me understand how a company like theirs operates. There are so many specialised job roles that we often overlook. This experience gave me confidence and clarity about potential career paths, especially after hearing from people who were once uncertain, like me, but found their way by developing their skills."Rohan (13KM)

"I enjoyed the hands-on experience with industry professionals. Hearing from university students who were unsure about their future helped me realise that I don't need to pressure myself too much to decide my career path right now. I highly recommend this experience to other students." -Krystal (12BR)

"The Q&A with Nestlé representatives gave valuable insight into various career paths, and the business problem-solving task improved my skills in communication and teamwork. The whole event was enjoyable, especially the icebreakers, which made it easier to connect with others."-Shyam (13PJ)

"I learnt more about leadership and the world of work. It was incredibly useful to hear how Nestlé employees reached their positions and the skills they needed. I hope to participate in more opportunities like this in the future."-Nikhil (13HK)

We look forward to continuing this exciting partnership with WildHearts and Nestlé, offering more opportunities for our students to grow and succeed. If you'd like to get involved in future events, please speak to Mrs. N. Kerai.
