Year 9 Trip to Phasels Wood
On Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th October 2024, our Year 9 students embarked on an exciting trip to Phasels Wood, an adventurous outdoor experience! Located in Hertfordshire, Phasels Wood is a popular activity centre offering over 30 different activities across 90 acres of meadows and ancient woodland. The trip was both fun and educational, providing valuable life skills, fostering peer interaction, and helping students develop key skills that align with our school’s Character Virtues.
Student reflections:
"I had fun on my trip to Phasels Wood. We indulged on a multitude of activities and overall build our teamwork skills. The character virtues we displayed on the trip would be teamwork, curiosity to find out and learn new skills in the activities, and integrity. The highlight of my trip would definitely be the final activity of the day that my group had: crate stacking. This was a test of 2 people's teamwork and balance (and the other's integrity too). We had to stack up the crates whilst standing on them, with people quivering as if they were going to fall to their deaths after they got about 10 crates high, and others just trying to stay on. The funniest part was Miss Wakeman chanting: "Fall! Fall! Fall!" and recording all of it. All in all, I liked this trip and was a nice mix up to the school day." - Abel 9HW
"My Phasels wood experience was extremely enjoyable because of the numerous activities such as the rock wall and the spider mountain. We worked hard to climb the rolling rock wall, and our group used many of the school's character virtues like teamwork for when we were doing the team challenges. The one task that was incredibly challenging was the Spider Mountain because of the multiple tiers that we had to climb up then afterwards you could slide down. Another reason that this trip was fun is because I got to experience this with my friends and the other people in my class." - Rayaan 9RA
"The Phasels Wood trip was a great opportunity that got our class to bond together and to demonstrate teamwork. Everyone enjoyed all the activities that we had completed together, we showed resilience when doing the team challenges and trying again when we didn't do it correctly. One of the main highlights that our group had was the high crates which not only let us work together but also made us use our communication skills when we were climbing. It got most of us to not be scared of heights and to enjoy the moment. Overall, the trip was a great experience for us and we enjoyed it very much and are so grateful for it." - Daria 9SC
It was a wonderful experience for all that attended. Thank you to Miss Campbell and Mrs Cepoi for organising the trip.
